Using Dental Implants for Denture Stabilization
Dental implants are titanium posts we secure in the jawbone to support dentures. At Fine Dental Care, we use two kinds of dental implants.
Traditional dental implants are around 5 mm in width and require an invasive placement process. After making an incision in your gums, we use a series of drills that increase in size to create a hole in your bone. As traditional implants consist of various parts, we must place them at separate appointments to allow for healing. In about 3 months, your implants will be stable enough to support your denture!
While the traditional implant method is incredibly stable, we often prefer mini dental implants because of the incredible benefits they offer patients like you.
Mini dental implants are less than 3 mm in width, allowing us to use a minimally invasive procedure! Without any need for incisions, we create a small pilot hole through your gums and into your jawbone. After carefully screwing your implant in place, it becomes instantly stable enough to support a temporary or, in some cases, a final restoration! Because these implants are one piece, we place them in a single appointment, allowing you to have new teeth in just one day!

Our Mini Implant Denture Options
At Fine Dental Care in Wayne, NJ, we offer three distinct mini implant denture options. These options are:
Snap-In Dentures
If you are looking for a solution similar to traditional dentures but with more stability, these may be the dentures for you. They feature a similar design, except that snap-in dentures don’t need the large plate upper that traditional dentures use for stability. With mini implants, your denture will stay in place without relying on suction or your jawbone structure.
For ease of maintenance, this prosthetic pops on and off your implants with a “snap!” In some cases, if your denture is in excellent condition, we can even transform your traditional denture by removing the bulky upper plate and putting in housings for the implants in your jawbone. With 4-8 mini implants for stability, your snap-in denture is incredibly secure!
Semi-Removable Roundhouse Bridge
While technically a bridge, a roundhouse bridge functions as a denture because it replaces all of your teeth. The difference lies mostly in the build of the prosthetic, as a semi-removable roundhouse bridge doesn’t need the traditional denture base!
Instead, it features a sleek horseshoe design that looks natural in your mouth. With this prosthetic, you never take it off of your implants. Only we remove it during routine dental cleanings at Fine Dental Care for maintenance. With 6-10 implants stabilizing your denture, you can smile with confidence!
Non-Removable Roundhouse Bridge
Similarly to a semi-removable roundhouse bridge, a non-removable roundhouse bridge does not need a denture base unless you need extra lip support. The difference between roundhouse bridges is in the number of implants and how they are secured.
As the name suggests, a non-removable roundhouse bridge is cemented in place, never to come out. This denture looks incredibly natural and seamless in your mouth. Additionally, the increase in implants comes with an increase in stability, allowing you to eat all the foods you love with no restrictions!
