Instructions Following Denture or Partial Delivery

Getting Used to Your Dentures

  • Multiple adjustments may be necessary over time to enhance the fit and comfort of your dentures or partials.
  • Practicing reading aloud daily can help you adapt more quickly to new dentures.
  • Take out your dentures for a minimum of six hours each day, ideally overnight, to allow your gums to rest.
  • After removing dentures, gently brush the roof of your mouth, tongue, and gums to remove any trapped food particles and prevent sore spots or inflammation.
  • Expect some initial discomfort with new dentures or partials, which should subside after a few days.
