Instructions Following Fillings
Receiving a dental filling is a common solution for addressing cavities and preventing further decay. To ensure a smooth and swift recovery, it’s important to follow specific care instructions post-treatment.
- Wait to eat or chew until the numbness from the anesthesia completely subsides.
- Ensure that any child under your care avoids eating or chewing while their mouth is still numb to prevent them from biting their lips or tongue, which could lead to severe soft tissue damage.
- Steer clear of sticky, crunchy, or hard foods for the first 24 hours after the procedure.
- Expect that sensitivity to cold and heat, along with any soreness, will dissipate within a few days.
- Contact our office if pain or discomfort persists beyond a few days.
