What is Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation?

If you have gum recession, it means you have lost tissue along the tooth gumline, exposing the roots. This can cause sensitivity, cavities along the root surfaces, and potentially cause embarrassment regarding your appearance! In previous years, the only way to treat this condition was to have a surgical gum graft. This procedure entailed removing a small portion of the tissue on the roof of your mouth and stitching it into place along the gumline.

Now there is a new, less-invasive technique! With Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation, a tiny hole is formed on the tissue towards the root and the gums are gently shifted down with an instrument to cover the recessed area of the tooth! Dr. Fine was the first dentist in the Wayne, NJ area to perform this procedure! Patients travel from surrounding states, such as Washington DC, Connecticut and New York State just to get this treatment from such an experienced provider!

What can cause receding gums?
– The natural process of aging
– Gum disease
– Brushing too aggressively
– Using a hard toothbrush

It is important to note that if your tissue recession is a result of diseased gums, then that condition should be treated prior to receiving any other dental work. We offer both traditional periodontal therapy as well as in-house LANAP laser treatments for gum disease.

There are many advantages of this newer method as opposed to the traditional procedure. Some examples include: no need for stitches, scalpels, or removal of any tissue from the mouth palate. Less discomfort and quicker healing times are also among the beneficial aspects.
