The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved the “NTI Migraine Pain Prevention System.”

“For those who can’t find a solution to their migraine headaches, relief may now be as close as the neighborhood dentist’s chair,” says Dr. Bruce Fine of Fine Dental Care in Wayne. The NTI (Tension Suppression System) is the only FDA- approved dental appliance proven for the prevention of migraine headache pain.

Benefits of the NTI
The NTI is a small, custom fitted, nearly invisible, removable, acrylic cover for the two front teeth to be worn while sleeping. It prevents nighttime jaw clenching and grinding which sometimes goes unnoticed but can lead to migraines, TMJ or chronic headaches. “The NTI device is fitted to the upper front teeth to provide a flat surface for the lower teeth to rest on which prevents tooth surfaces from clenching or grinding and helps to relax muscles in the jaw,” says Dr. Fine.

Besides migraine prevention, NTI is proven effective in preventing gum recession, tooth shortness due to grinding, treating TMJ, and chronic headaches.
